MARQUES KING, FABRIC[K] DESIGN
Raised in Detroit, Marques was inspired by the contrast between the city he knew and his grandparents' stories of its prosperous past. His non-linear path included training as an electrician, cabinet-maker, and steel drafter before earning degrees in Architecture, Construction Management, and Urban Design. As a licensed architect with 14 years of experience at leading firms, his work is rooted in Jane Jacobs' philosophy of creating equitable public spaces. He serves on national boards including the Form Based Code Institute and Congress for the New Urbanism, bringing his expertise back to Detroit through Fabric[K] Design.
