Site Planning for Residential Infill Sites

Presented by Elizabeth Ward Williams

Finding the right site is only half the battle—knowing how to plan it well makes all the difference. In this session, Elizabeth Ward Williams walks through real project examples of residential infill development on sites ranging from 1 to 10 acres, designed in a cottage court fashion that prioritizes walkability, community, and character.

Drawing on hands-on experience with small-scale residential projects and utilizing the KUA Housing Choice Catalogue, Elizabeth will demonstrate how thoughtful site planning can unlock the potential of underutilized parcels—turning overlooked lots into vibrant, human-scaled neighborhoods.

Perfect for small-scale developers, architects, planners, and anyone curious about how to bring more housing and community to the spaces already within our cities.
